A reusable finely-woven cloth of 90 thread per inch, 100% cotton.

Used in place of cheese cloth, which is too wide a weave for some cheese recipes.

Butter Muslin is a tightly woven cloth used for draining, pressing, and bandaging both hard and soft cheeses. Butter muslin is great for draining both moist and soft cheeses, because the tighter weave does not allow for complete draining of vital moisture and butterfats. Butter muslin is good for holding in small, soft curds.

The primary use of cheesecloth is in some styles of cheesemaking, where it is used to remove whey from cheese curds, and to help hold the curds together as the cheese is formed. Cheesecloth is also used in straining stocks and custards, bundling herbs, making tofu and ghee, and thickening yoghurt.

Measures: 900mmx900mm

Hint: soak your cloth in whey before moulding as this may prevent sticking.

Washable and reusable: After using the muslin, immediately rinse and wring it out in the sink, then hang it up to dry.  Don't let fabric sit around for long, so wash immediately after you have finished.
Wash in the washing machine or by hand in the sink. Avoid detergents and fabric softeners. Use only mild detergent if necessary, and rinse thoroughly to remove any soap residue. If there are bits of curd sticking to the cloth, rinse with whey or white vinegar to help remove it. Be very diligent about keeping it clean to avoid imparting off flavours to the next batch of cheese.

Also use it for hassle-free straining of liquids, such as stocks and broths.
