Naturally Sheepskins Chamois Leather (prononced "Shammy") is a 100% natural product and a superior cleaning tool.
Genuine chamois leather has almost no abrasive properties, and can be used as a very absorbent drying material, which has popularised it for drying and buffing vehicles after washing.
Natural leather chamois cloths are durable, absorbent and exceptionally soft. The chamois natural ability to quickly dry surfaces, without marring or scratching them in the process, has made them the preferred drying towel for most high-end applications. The large amount of nap in a chamois naturally pulls dirt and grit away from the surface and into the fibre of the cloth where it is effectively and safely trapped. Unlike other types of drying towels, a chamois will effectively release the trapped dirt and grit, keeping it from becoming abrasive over time. And unlike synthetic drying products, which are petroleum-based, a genuine leather chamois is a natural, and reoccurring, byproduct of sheep farming.
Most well known for their use in drying and buffing vehicles, boats, and windows, chamois leather can be used to polish jewellery, musical instruments, glasses, lenses, and other items that must be handled carefully, as well as cleaning throughout the home. Divers use towels made of chamois leather to dry themselves between dives, as they can be quickly dried by squeezing or wringing them.
With synthetic "chamois" leather and microfibre cloths now dominating the market, a true leather chamois is a natural, sustainable and biodegradable alternative to synthetic cleaning cloths.
More recently, we have seen synthetic fibre "facial chamois" entering the market, however these pose the same environmental concerns as the increasingly popular microfibre cloths.
The elasticity of the skin's pores, which are very close together, make chamois a natural facial cloth to gently remove dead skin cells and encourage smooth healthy skin. Gentle on the skin while thoroughly removing dirt, they can be used by people with sensitive skin and even babies. The ultrafine fibres remove dirt from the skin and gently cleanse it, gliding over skin to remove pollution, cleanser, face masks and makeup, and making the chamois an ideal alternative to ineffective cotton wool pads and harsh face washers.
It will become a little hard when it dries, but you can lightly stretch it in all directions and knead it, or put it in hot water to restore the texture immediately.

Care Instructions:
Chamois leather is extremely durable and will last for many years if cared for properly. Clean and rinse your chamois leather with warm water (max 30°C) before and after each use. Avoid grease-dissolving cleaning agents or detergents as they will cause the leather to become hard. All solvents, petrol, acids and similar will damage genuine chamois leather. If heavily soiled, use a natural bar soap to clean the chamois leather and rinse thoroughly. To dry, gently squeeze out all water and allow to hang freely, away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not dry folded. Once completely dry, roll or fold your chamois and store it in a dry container.
Please note: As this is a natural product, no two chamois leather will be exactly the same. Please allow for variations in colour, shape and size.
