Yellow/Gold Tiger Eye -
Tiger's eye (also Tigers eye, Tiger eye) is a chatoyant gemstone that is usually yellow- to red-brown, with a silky
lustre. It is a fibrous silicified crocidolite, a classic example of pseudomorphous replacement. An incompletely silicified blue variant is called Hawk's
Eye. A member of the quartz group, its physical and optical properties are identical or very near to those of single-crystal quartz.
The gems are usually cut en cabochon in order to best display their chatoyancy. Red stones are brought about through gentle heat treatment. Honey-coloured stones have been used to imitate the much higher valued cat's eye chrysoberyl
(cymophane).

Tiger's eye (tigers eye, tiger eye, tiger iron) is a member of the quartz group. It is one of the chatoyant gemstones. Chatoyancy exhibits a changeable silky
lustre as light is reflected within the thin parallel fibrous bands. This effect is due to the fibrous structure of the material.
Tiger iron is composed of tiger's eye, red jasper and black hematite. The rippled wavy bands of
colour often resemble a scenic view.
- Tiger Iron -
This exceptional looking piece of tiger's iron rough from Australia looks like the evening sun setting behind a mountain range. It has a greenish cast with shades of brown, golden yellow, and reds. This type of tiger's eye is only found in
the one region of Australia. Because the minerals in this stone are of varying hardness, it is difficult to polish without under cutting.
Tiger's eye is mined in Western Australia, South Africa, USA, Canada, India, Namibia, and Burma.
Tiger Eye has long been considered a quartz replacement of asbestos, otherwise known as a pseudomorph. The asbestos is gone, so it's harmless to cut. However, new research into the origins of tiger eye shows tiger eye is
perhaps actually not a pseudomorph.
The fibrous structure of tiger eye creates chatoyancy and also gives it a definite grain structure. So, you have to be careful that it doesn't tear out when grinding and polishing. Polish with cerium oxide, tin oxide, or diamond.

lustre and exhibiting chatoyancy, and it also occurs together with it. However, it differs in that Tiger's Eye is a pseudomorph of Quartz after Crocidolite, whereas Hawk's Eye is Quartz with inclusions of Crocidolite.
THE MINERAL TIGER EYE
Varieties of Quartz and Chalcedony
There are hundreds of variety names for Quartz and Chalcedony. Many, such as Amethyst and Rose Quartz, are universally accepted and used, others are sometimes used, and yet others are hardly ever seen or made up. New variety names flood the market every year, as dealers and individuals make up their own variety names.
The complexity involved in this one mineral is so great that entire books just about Quartz have been written. The information provided here just briefly touches upon all the details of this mineral.
Quartz is the most common mineral on earth (second most common if Water is considered a mineral). It occurs in basically all mineral environments, and is an important constituent of many rocks. Quartz is also the most varied of all minerals. It occurs in all different forms, habits, and
colours. There are more variety names given to Quartz than any other mineral.
The mineral Chalcedony, is, in essence, a variety of Quartz. It is also known as Microcrystalline
Quartz, for it is a form of Quartz that only occurs in microscopic, compacted crystals. However, most mineral references list Quartz and Chalcedony as two separate minerals.
Varieties There are literally hundreds of different names given to Quartz and Chalcedony. Some are not scientifically recognized, but are used universally. The most important names are listed
below.
These are the main varieties:
Chalcedony- Microcrystalline variety
Amethyst - Purple variety
Citrine - Yellow to yellow-brown variety
Rose Quartz - Pink variety
Rock Crystal - Colourless, transparent variety
Smoky Quartz - Brownish-black, "smoky" variety
Milky Quartz - White, translucent to opaque variety
Rutilated Quartz - Quartz with golden-yellow, needle like Rutile inclusions
Aventurine - Opaque, massive Quartz containing small mica, Hematite, or Goethite scales which cause a glistening effect.
Polymorphs: Chalcedony
Opal
Melanophlogite
QUARTZ Chemical Formula SiO2
Composition Silicon dioxide
Colour Occurs in an infinite range of colours. Most commonly white, purple, brown, and
colourless. Many specimens are multicoloured or banded. makes an attractive specimen. Sometimes with a golden
colour as the name chrysotile in Greek means golden fibres.
CHALCEDONY
Microcrystalline variety of Quartz
Chemical Formula SiO2
Composition Silicon dioxide
Colour Occurs in every imaginable colour. The variety Agate is banded in many different
colour combinations
Crystal Forms and Aggregates (Hexagonal) Chalcedony, being a microcrystalline variety of Quartz, does not occur in crystals. It occurs botryoidal,
mamillary, stalactitic, massive, nodular, as smooth rounded pebbles, as banded masses, and in geodes.
Chalcedony frequently pseudomorphs after organic materials. A well-known example is petrified wood, wood that has been completely transformed into Chalcedony (or one of several other minerals). In the Petrified Forest National Monument in Arizona, an entire forest was transformed into petrified wood. Remains of this ancient forest can be seen in the huge
silicified logs that are found in the area. Another well-known pseudomorph is Chalcedony after coral. Underneath the Tampa Bay in Florida, much coral has been replaced by Chalcedony, and its original form is preserved.
Another Chalcedony pseudomorph is the famous "Tiger's Eye". This almost legendary mineral has a most interesting and confusing appearance. It is caused by a finely fibrous structure of Crocidolite that was once present, but has been transformed into Chalcedony through pseudomorphism.
Hawk's Eye: Quartz with parallel, fibrous inclusions of Crocidolite. Hawk's Eye appears similar to Tiger's Eye, having a silky
lustre and exhibiting chatoyancy, and it also occurs together with it. However, it differs in that Tiger's Eye is a pseudomorph of Quartz after Crocidolite, whereas Hawk's Eye is Quartz with inclusions of Crocidolite.

Throughout history and legend, people from all cultures and continents have used the spiritual and healing powers of gems and crystals.
Utilized for purely religious purposes as well as communion, physical and spiritual healing, the power of gems and crystals is intertwined with the history of mankind.
It is widely believed that gems & crystals act as amplifiers when brought into contact with the human body’s seven-chakra points.
Chakra is the Sanskrit word for "wheel", and like all other wheels they spin, distributing life-force energy to all areas of the body.
While your chakras can become congested or unbalanced from stress, anxiety, environmental or many other unknown conditions, using gems or crystals in accordance with meditation or bodywork is known to help remove blockages and balance these energy points, promoting health, happiness and well being.
The seven-chakra points within our bodies rotate at different speeds that closely correspond to the vibrational frequencies of different crystals and gemstones.
By utilizing the appropriate crystals and gemstones that correspond to each chakra, it is believed we can unlock the door to the world of crystal healing and tap its powerful, health imbibing powers.
The benefits of long-term crystal exposure to the chakras is said to be one of the most effective forms of alternative healing available.
Healing crystals and gemstones come in highly attractive and functional forms; wearing crystal
jewellery or gemstone crystal wraps is both a practical and fashionable way of reaching your health goals.
Also available for use with meditation or simply carrying around in a pocket or crystal pouch are tumbled gemstones, cut crystals, rough and faceted gemstones, pendulums and sacred geometry shaped crystals.
